Sweet...sweet...CORN!

The hard work sure does pay off! Here we are working on freezing our sweet corn for the Klingenberg clan. Brett, Cassie, Grant and I worked for 4-5 hours getting it all done...all 112 bags!! It's so yummy, and great to know it's sitting in the freezer whenever we want some. :)
Here was the process:

Grant and Brett picked and shucked all of the ears.

Cassie and I tag-teamed washing...

cutting the corn off the cob...

cooking...

and bagging all of it! (once the guys were done picking and shucking, they did help clean and cut...I had to make sure to mention that and give credit where credit is due.)

Almost done! Notice a bunch of shucks on the ground.

All 112 bags sitting to cool! Another successful sweet corn harvest!

  1. Allie,

Just checked your blog. Your reflections certainly remind me of my 18 years on the farm, with all the work, work, work, that we had. It was a good life though. Sweet corn -- we must have raised thousands of acres of it over the years...and freezed it as well. Now, I want to see pictures of pickin' chickens. I never had to clean them (YUK), but I picked plenty. Thanks for the memories. We're getting ready for annual conference in San Antonio! Later, Bev
