Goin' Fishin'

My sister, Mandy, and my cousin, Katie, came to visit last weekend. We had a lot of fun hanging out and we went fishing!

Grant snagged a bullfrog by the foot. Very impressive. Willie (the dog) was very intrigued.

Willie sat and waited for the fish to bite.

Some random pictures

Here are some random pictures from the last few weeks.

Grant and I were all dressed up for a wedding!

One of the four kittens that was born right after Easter. We call her "Dusty".

Puma fell asleep IN THE TREE! He slept there for about an hour. Crazy cat!

Seriously, we have the cutest niece EVER.

Gimpy Gus

That's what we are calling him now. Unfortunately, last Friday Gus fell out of the pickup and broke his back leg! We took him in to the vet and had a cast put on. He's getting around quite well now. He hobbles around on 3 legs, and it is quite hilarious. Since he gets hot easily, I've been trying to keep him from going into water to cool off, but I don't know how successful I'm going to be. It's only going to get hotter!!! Poor guy. So for the next 5-6 months, here's what he'll look like:

Notice that Willie the dog and Granola the cat signed his cast. How thoughtful! :)

I guess it is spring

I thought the saying was "April showers bring May flowers." So, why did we get 3 inches of rain on Thursday night? Oh yes, the creeks were all flooding, and that meant fixing fence in the pastures! Yesterday Grant checked his pastures to see if his fences were still intact where they go through water gaps (in creeks, etc.). We don't want those cattle getting out! Sure enough, a few pastures needed some attention. More fence fixing today, also!

Our flowers are starting to bloom though! Irises, peonies... I love spring. Our vegetable garden is doing well also. We have strawberry plants, potatoes, lettuce, carrots, and sweetcorn (for the whole Klingenberg clan)! Yummy...

We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo

Last Sunday, I went to the zoo with my sister-in-law Kara, her sister Kelsey, Kelsey's boyfriend Mike, and my niece Makayla (of course!). The weather was great that day, even though we got sprinkled on a little. At least it wasn't blazingly HOT, like it usually is when I've ever gone to the zoo.

I had never been to the Wichita zoo before, and I was not disappointed! It's a great zoo...and they have penguins! The new tiger exhibit is opening on Memorial Day weekend, so I'll definitely have to go back and see it. Makayla had a wonderful time. She loved looking at all of the different kinds of birds, especially. Probably because they were always active.

Sadly, I don't have any pictures to show. I had taken a bunch of really good ones of Makayla looking at the animals, but close to the end of the day I realized I had LOST my new camera! Grrrrrr.... I'm NOT having good camera luck lately. So unfortunately I lost all of the great pictures as well as the camera. I'm still holding out hope that some nice person will find my camera and actually return it to guest services. They have my phone number, I'm just waiting for a phone call.
